write a bio

Postby B T » Wed Nov 01, 2006 10:59 am

Marv Friedenn wrote:BT, it's a book I always wanted to read, so do me a favor. In your spare time, write Lennie's biography. (Don't grind your teeth. It'll be fun.) Here's how you do it ...

Marv Friedenn wrote:... his brother Mickey was a Freudian psychologist; when his friend and promoter Barry Ulanov went on to write several books on archetypes of the unconscious in literature; when his wife Judy was in therapy and consequently must have sensitized him to the direct bearing on people’s daily and creative lives of unconscious issues; when Wilhelm Reichian psychology was in vogue among his students ...

Write a biography Marv? Geez ... uh ... I dunno ... umm ... I think you've already started one ... you do seem to know a lot about his life ...

"shootout" between subject and biographer

Postby B T » Wed Nov 01, 2006 11:08 am

Marv Friedenn wrote: ... a 'shootout' between biographer and subject is that naturally the subject has to come alive in order to defend himself against his biographer. But when that happens, when the subject comes alive . . .

Marv Friedenn wrote:Comrade Tristano,

... I wish to say I feel that yours was a dumb remark ...

Whatcha say to that, Comrade Tristano?

Marv, you've also got a head start on me here, as well ...

book title

Postby B T » Wed Nov 01, 2006 11:13 am

Marv Friedenn wrote:BT!

... I thought of the title! Not The Psychology of Music but The Music of Psychology!!! The idea is that Lennie is an important 20th century psychologist who expressed his theories musically! Naturally, the more psychological disruption in his life, the more convincing the purity of his dedication to the musical expression of his theories.

Dude! Doo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hood!

You might be on to something here ...

Take the title and run with it ... its YOUR book!

BT, it's curious how you edit my quotes so that the meaning appears already underway before the reader catches sight of it, the way one crops a photo in order to make an otherwise perfectly recognizable object appear ambiguous. Are you practicing an art that I should know about?

BT, I think I know what's bothering you, but I can't broach the topic without your permission. Just remember that with the same unfailing benevolence God intends us to live and intends us to die. With a scrupulous God like that, His critters had best stick together. I owe you one for helping me decoincidentalize. Therefore, I hope to hear from you soon. In the meantime I am your friend,
Marv.

This thread is dead

I do believe that we have resolved this issue. Any spin-offs from this discussion should have their own thread! This one is dead. And not even 1000 hits yet ...

My best to all of you out there in Tristano-land,

Your Friend,

B T

I'm delighted that BT has designated this site a cyberruin. I drink in the silence heavy with hearsay, where fable and fact interact without prejudice.

Special prize to the most convincing My Christmas With Lennie story.
