Descent Into The Maelstrom compilation

Postby jostber » Thu Apr 08, 2010 8:43 am

Now listening to the marvellous "Descent Into The Maelstrom" record that was released on Inner City Records in 1976. Anyone knows who compiled this? Was this an all Japanese project? Anyway, more of this! :)

I know how the tracks of "Descent Into The Maelstrom" was compiled, because I was the one who put them together and submitted the resulting tape to the record company, East Wind. The selections were all made by Lennie. He had wanted a different title for this record--"Retrospectus." He conceptualized this recording as a compilation of selections drawn from different periods of his musical life, giving a kind of overview of the varying musical expression in the evolution of his music.

Thanks for the information! Very interesting to hear that Lenny selected the tracks around a theme.
