That's a good call on Lennie's part. Very intuitive. Did he have any views on Jimi Hendrix?

Larry Meyer, who studied guitar with him, told me a story about that. He brought in Jimi's first album and played "May This Be Love" - the "waterfall" song, and Lennie said that Jimi's solo was as beautiful as a Pres solo.

Of course, that isn't really representative of Jimi's work. I wonder what Lennie would have thought of stuff like "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" ... that one in particular has a Turkish Mambo vibe. (They work very well together in playlists.)

what I had learned from the music which had initially narrowed my non-jazz musical tastes and influences now enabled me to hear, experience and enjoy it at a much higher level than I ever did before. I imagine Lennie would have liked
