Complete Session Index (updated mar 29 2007)

Postby Dr.Jellyfish » Sat Jan 20, 2007 6:11 pm

Hi! I would like you to check my session index, so you can tell me if there is something wrong. I have some doubt about the date of some sessions, I studied the discographies written by Miner, Fayenz, Piangiarelli, the Jazz Discography Project and those written on the original recordings.
Thank you.

Right off the bat I can tell you that there is now a score available for C Minor Complex, also through William H. Bauer, Inc.

Is it accurate? I have the original score for the Scene and Variation. Bud and Tania are OK, but Carol, although close at times, is not accurate. There are notes missing in the score from some of Lennie's 8 to 15 note aggregates.

EVERYthing available on record issued between 1946 and 1979. Alot of Marsh and Konitz in the 1949 to 1955 period also. I've also transcribed quite a bit of Martial Solal's best work from the 1958 to 1964 period. I showed a very small portion of it to Connie in the Jamaica Estates home shortly after Lennie's demise and she was extremely impressed with it. I explained to her that I had a book in mind that analyzed Lennie's harmonic concepts in depth, utilizing excerpts from the transcriptions. She told me that the rights to music were owned by Atlantic or Jazz records, anything about Lennie would have to be done through her, then offered that they'd pay me a transcription fee if something was published from my work, which at that point I declined to even consider.
