Tristano in Jailhouse Rock! Has anyone seen that in this movie?

So the gap between Elvis and Lennie was not so big after all...

I've seen it and it goes *something* like this..

Elvis is fresh out of a stint in jail and a woman who wants to represent him musically takes him to a party, where Elvis is visibly out of his element.

Several musical snobs are discussing music and one of them brings up "Lennie Tristano's latest album" One of them says its from outer space and then they ask Elvis what he thinks of it. Elvis says I don't know what you're talking about and leaves the party in a huff.

Cool...

I think Elvis should have stayed at the party and listened to more of Lennie to get into the party groove, and some real good music. Then maybe he hadn't been so inclined to do all the Hollywood movie flops he started to do a couple of years after the Jailhouse Rock flick. :) ¨

The Doors at least listened to what was really groovin, and could throw a party too:

Joe Satriani did also see the Jailhouse movie. A lot about Joe's studying with Lennie at the end of the article:
