Lennie was a fan of Charlie Parker, and Charlie was a fan of Lennie's playing. Their recordings together are magnificent. Lennie's tribute to Charlie Parker from 1955 'Requiem' is one of my favourite jazz songs.

There are two songs that were recorded in a session 1951 with Charlie Parker, Lennie and Kenny Clarke on drums. Does anyone know if these are available anywhere?

Would have been great to hear them.

Sometimes I find the answer to my own questions:

Hi!

I don´t enjoy sounding negative, but the Bird movie soundtrack does not feature either Lennie or Kennys contributions as they are edited out (as are all of Birds fellow musicians on this record) and a new rythm section added on. The results are not the same.

Sture

Ok, a case of bad editing there. :) I guess I'll gotta keep searching..

Hi
The 2 tracks of Lennie and Bird are Philology. Look in the live recordings section at http://www.philologyjazz.it

They're part of the Bird's Eyes series.

I ordered my copy from Cadence.

Enjoy
