Mingus and Lennie

Charles Mingus was greatly inspired by Lennie in the early 50's, and used many of Lennie's ideas in his own music. He even recorded in Lennie's studio in 1952: http://www.jazzdisco.org/mingus/dis/c/#520412.

Are there any recordings with Lennie playing with Mingus?

Charlie Parker and Lennie 1951

Lennie was a fan of Charlie Parker, and Charlie was a fan of Lennie's playing. Their recordings together are magnificent. Lennie's tribute to Charlie Parker from 1955 'Requiem' is one of my favourite jazz songs. There are two songs that were recorded in a session 1951 with Charlie Parker, Lennie and...

Descent into the maelstrom

Hi,

I have been trying to get hold of the "Descent into the Maelstrom" cd for some time. Think it was an japanese issue that went out of print some time ago. Does anyone know where to get a hold of this cd?

TIA,

- Jostein

My favourites

I have these favourites: "Becoming" and "Love Lines" from The New Tristano. "Requiem" and "East Thirty-Second" from Lennie Tristano, and "Wow" and "Yesterdays" from Intuition. Great, creative and enduring jazz that gives me a lot of inspiration for my own music. And I must also add that I love "Just...
